The Tummy tuck surgery or abdominoplasty does have risks as does every surgery. The risks associated with the surgery are minimal, but it is important to go into any surgery knowing all that you need to know. So in this article I will give you the various possible complications that could happen with a tummy tuck such as Bruising, Bleeding, or swelling after tummy tuck surgery, as well as any sort of tummy tuck pain associated thereafter.
Below is a list the things that are expected to happen after surgery as well as a few complication that (should not), but sometimes do happen.
1. Tummy Tuck Swelling - swelling is common with most surgeries and is common with the tummy tuck surgery. If you are asking how long will I have swelling? Well it can range from 4-6 weeks and may extend itself to the genital or vaginal region.
2. Blood Clot - Like any surgery there is a small chance of blood clot which can lead to pulmonary emblous and if caught in the bloodstream and therefore death. These cases are extremely rare but there is a chance of clotting with any surgery.

4. Infection - Any time a patient goes under the knife there is a rick of infection. You will know you have infection if you have pain that does not subside and does not get better as the hours go on after the surgery. If you notice your pain is getting worse call your surgeon right away.
5. Bleeding - Slight bleeding can happen in some patients and is usually not noticeable. If you notice persistent bleeding you again want to call your surgeon right away.
6. Bruising - Bruising is very common after a tummy tuck. The stomach and surrounding are will more often than not have some heavy bruising.
7. Seroma - A fluid called seroma can collect underneath the skin and when severe enough will need to be aspirated.
8. Rejecting of Stitches - You body sometimes rejects the stitches put in by the doctor so it is best to keep and eye on the area/. If you see this start to happen call your surgeon immediately.
9. Numbness - It is common for the stomach or abdominal area to feel numb for a few months following the surgery.
10. Skin damage - During the surgery the surgeon stretches you skin to tighten it. If the skin is stretched too far the skin can be damaged or killed. In these rare cases he surgeon will have to perform a skin graft.
There are probably a few complications that I am forgetting but this is the majority of the list. Make sure to ask your physician to explain all possible complications before the surgery. Get all the possible information you can from your surgeon, see if there is information you can take home for further education. If is best to know what the best course of action is for each complication so if they do happen to you, you are prepared for the best course of action.
